Holyoke Codes is an education and outreach program of the MGHPCC in partnership with local educators and professionals that provides fun, engaging technology education to students who would not otherwise have the opportunity. Holyoke Codes encourages diversity, reaching underrepresented groups including people of color, low-income families, and girls. We are currently participating in an NSF NRI co-robotics research grant that aims to broaden the participation of middle school Latina girls in computer science and robotics through an immersive narrative of helping people affected by a hurricane. We have developed partnerships with the local schools and afterschool programs and have organized outreach programs for faculty at UMass Amherst, Northeastern, Boston University, Holyoke Community College, and Elms College.
